Debutante

Spring Break Drama.

My dad’s leaving for New Jersey next week which makes everything better.. but then he’s making all these restrictions up for us like we can’t throw a party unless my mom is at home. The problem is my mom has a 9-to-5 job.. And he gave us this sermon that if we were to invite people over, we are liable for their safety.. It’s one of those if-they-get-a-scratch-they’ll-sue type of things.. It’s as if he’s implying we shouldn’t throw a party at all.. or he doesn’t want us to have fun during spring break.

I don’t like it that I hate him right now. I just really think it’s unfair… my sister and I don’t ever get to go out.. And it’s spring break.. A week of no school! Does he expect us to rot and die at home? No way, man. I’ve been in this hole all my life and I want out!

I don’t know.. It’s these time when I feel like rebelling.. and turning into a black-sheep sort of thing. But I love my mom. And I know if I do anything stupid, she’ll feel a hundred times worse. Plus, I dont think I have the tendencies to be bad anyways.. But it’s just unfair..

All these restrictions and the two-week notice thing are choking me. Why can’t I go out? Why can’t I have fun? If he doesn’t want to be liable to my guests’ safety, then why won’t he let me go out and go to their parties instead? “No, because then, they’ll be liable to yours.”  Yes, but that’s crooked reasoning. That’s all bull.

It might probably be easier if he just leashed us.. then, we won’t be disillusioned with freedom.
